Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary
The latest in the Tomb Raider
series has done it well! The Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary
edition is a definite step up from previous Tomb Raider editions.
Lovers of this game should get to Tradestation as soon as they
can to get a hold of the game. Whether you exchange your old games
for the Anniversary title, or just rent the game to see whether
it is true, do get a hold of this game. Although this review is
geared towards the PC platform, the Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary
edition is also available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
What makes the Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary edition so
unique?
First of all, it is not an old Tomb Raider with extra graphics
and a new look. It is a totally new experience. From the first
scene, it becomes apparent that the graphics are excellent! About
the only thing in common is the main character Lara Croft. The
old game was the inspiration and that is about how far it goes.
It is by far the best title in the Lara Croft gaming series this
far.
Although the Legend edition was quite popular because of the freshness
brought to the scene, it was not all it was made up to be. This
Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary edition however, is
not only fresh, but a break from the past editions. The game is
meant as a celebration of ten years of Lara Croft games, but unlike
the public notion of just being a money making gimmick, the game
provides original and fresh scenes, content and gaming.
The levels play better, are brand new and build upon the well-known
storyline of Lara's search of the elusive Scion, which holds the
key to the truth about Atlantis. Excellent graphics include shadows,
shining water etc. Lara now has more control over actions, supposedly
because ten years of practice should result in being able to prevent
mishaps like falling over cliffs for nothing.
There are still some instances where you get frustrated when she
follows her own mind and ignores your commands. The linear progression
provided has the advantage of helping you to stay on track and
to know where you are. All in all, it provides tremendous fun.
There is enough room to play without running into an enemy around
every corner. Puzzles are also prominent in the game, but make
no mistake when battle pursues - it gets pretty serious.
Enhanced voices, emotions, adventures and graphics make for an
entertaining game although the accompanying music that warns you
of a dramatic event, kind of takes the surprise element away.
One drawback through, is Lara's stubbornness and love for jumping
into blind spots.
Fans will be glad to know that Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary
is available on PC, PS2 Playstation 3 and more. You can get the
opportunity to play this amazing game from any Tradestation outlet
in South Africa, just browse through the site for one near you.
Buy it, rent it, exchange a game for it, but do get it.
